Niaga® click-unclick adhesive
Making mattresses fit for refurbishment, reuse or recycling
Many materials used in mattresses – including glues – make separation, reuse and recycling impossible. It’s why mattresses are one of the largest contributors to landfill and incineration waste. Now, thanks to Niaga® click-unclick adhesive mattress materials can be connected in such a way that they are easily separated at end of use. In this way, we make easy disassembly and full recovery of valuable, clean materials possible.
The adhesive unclicks at the right temperature and conditions, so that mattress materials and components can be disassembled and separated for refurbishment, reuse or recycling. The great thing is that, as a polyester adhesive, Niaga® click-unclick adhesive - together with the polyester components used in circular-design mattresses - can be recycled into infinite polyester material streams.
More circular design solutions
At Niaga® we’ve not only successfully applied our ‘design to use again’ principles to mattresses, but to carpets and panels as well. All such circular solutions are based on the unique click-unclick properties of the Niaga® adhesive.
As the number of applications has become more diverse and the demand for circular products, such as mattresses, is increasing, there is also the need for click-unclick adhesive that facilitates different production process requirements. For instance, for the speeding up of mattress production.
It’s why we have developed, tested and validated LA1020 Niaga® click-unclick adhesive. This adhesive comes with the same ingredients, chemistry and bonding capabilities as all the other Niaga® click-unclick adhesive. But we’ve fine-tuned it in such a way that it is fully tailored to help speed up the production output of highest quality mattresses designed for circularity.
